Striking the balance of looking cool while staying warm on a ski trip is an art, and this video gives you the goods on how to create chic looks that keep you warm, without looking like you’re trying to hard. Be sure to watch to the end to catch some additional outfits when we swap key pieces. Pray for snow, and have fun both on and off the slopes!

1. Wear real base layers that keep you warm. Perfect Moment and Goldbergh make wearable layers that are the perfect blend of form and function.

2. Get a good pair of snow boots. Suede and ankle boots with heels are all fine and good- indoors. You need something with insulation, like the MoonBoot or Inuikii, or shearling and a chunky sole boot (hello Pajar and Sorel) for traction in a winter wonderland.

3. Faux fur, for sure- but limited. If you’re head to toe in fuzzy textures (or shiny metallic ones) it will come across as too much. Use a stand out texture sparingly to complete you look by adding a faux fur coat from Apparis or Norma Kamali, or a topper from H&M or Jocelyn.

   

4. Cool accessories bring a basic outfit up a notch in the best way. Again- we’re not going head to toe Gucci here. But, a great pair of sunglasses, a fun belt bag, or some fuzzy mittens can make your look feel that much more special and noteworthy without being over the top flashy.

5. Go for a matching ski set. A matching ski jacket and pants just makes the look so effortless and you can have a lot of fun with a print or color. Go for whatever you gravitate towards and keep the accessories neutral or complimentary. Zara makes some great print sets (with ski gear technology partners), while Perfect Moment and Half Days make solid staples.

6. Don’t splurge on designer goggles. It’s not worth it and it is a like wearing a target that says, ‘I’m not from here.’ Instead buy a pair from the people who have been making goggles for decades and offer the best technology for when you’re out on the slopes. I like Anon and Smith.

When the sun is out at altitude, even in the temps are low, it will always feel warmer. Lean into the burgundy trend with a monochromatic look. Start with a midi skirt (you can go for a cargo style like I did or a slip one), add a knit on top and a knee-high boot in a similar hue. Last week in Jackson brought the kind of summer weather that keeps you on your toes—cool mornings in the 40s/50s that quickly gave way to afternoons in the 80s. To make the most of the swings, I leaned on my favorite layering tricks: lightweight jean jackets over dresses, button-downs I could shrug off by midday, and sandals as my primary footwear choice. The week was full of variety—from a boat day on Jackson Lake, to filming our next Jackson Jem episode, to a client styling session—and my wardrobe staples carried me through each moment with ease. In this post, you’ll find the daily breakdown with outfits, weather snapshots, and links to shop the pieces I reached for most.

Late-summer dressing is all about flexibility. Start with light, breathable staples in linen or cotton, then add layers you can peel away as the sun climbs. Last week’s weather in Jackson brought that unmistakable late-summer mood—cooler mornings in the 50s, sunny afternoons in the 70s & 80s, and some clouds that called for a little extra warmth. My approach? Keep the base of each outfit light and breezy, then add layers I could shed as the day heated up. Think light wash jeans, denim jackets, and statement knits. Each day’s outfit was built around the forecast and my plans—whether I was running errands downtown, filming for Stylecast, or enjoying an evening al fresco. Here, you’ll find my daily looks, weather snapshots, and links to shop each piece so you can bring this layering strategy into your own wardrobe.

Late summer layering is all about balancing textures—light and breathable underneath, cozy and tactile on top. Look for pieces you can drape over your shoulders or stash in a tote when the sun comes out.

Note to self (and anyone traveling to Montana this summer), it is always colder in Montana. It’s just that much further north and they get storm systems moving through there like clockwork each afternoon. The good news is the weather does keep moving. Big skies make for a beautiful backdrop to watch a thunderstorm in the distance. Outfit-wise, that means layers. I was so glad I brought (and bought) sweater tanks to keep my core warmer. My bootcut jeans were an evening staple, as was my heavier suede jacket.

One thing I stumbled upon while up-leveling my cowgirl outfit game was this thin line between cowboy country and costal county. These two aesthetics are for sure different, but there are elements that overlap and when paired together you’ve got something so classic, Western and casual— it’s actually amazing. I’m calling it Costal Cowboy.

I’m going to put together a packing list video (over on YouTube) for Montana in the summer, but for now I will leave you with this: bring your cowboy boots, a wide brimmed hat, a denim shirt, pair of jeans, and a bandana. The rest you can style in with these essentials and come out feeling and looking great.

When the temps are hot, and the afternoons stormy, you’ve got to have good layers. A jean jacket is the perfect summer companion. I have three of them (two featured this week) and throw them in the car as that go-to coverup that goes with anything. You may already own a cropped classic one, but what about the trucker oversized style? It is actually more versatile than you think. If you’re in Jackson, you can stop by the new Perennial West store or WomenFolk for the vintage variety. Another not so common gem is the Eclectic Consignment store next to Creekside Market.

It has taken me a long time to feel good in my skin again after having a baby. I’ve been reflecting on it and I think it’s partly to do with how much your body changes to accommodate bringing another human into the world, and the other part is the very real identity change that comes with motherhood.

This summer I finally feel like I am hitting my stride again. I’ve matured and am okay with it. I am also okay with dressing as young as I feel without shame. I think there’s a balance to retaining your maiden self and this new mom role you’ll now reside in forever. I wear short skirts and show a bit of midriff. I know it’s not for everyone, but it helps me feel like me (maybe maiden me?) and so I allow it to come through organically. Perhaps you have your own version of this balance? Either way, I hope you get some outfit inspiration and it helps you embrace ALL of you.

2. The Classic Mid-Length Coat with Hood

Dare I say this is the ‘Mom Coat’ for winter, but it is so frickin’ practical and still has that elevated design nod when you invest in one from Moncler. The price is high, but this is a forever piece you’ll get tons of millage out of.

3. The Ranch Style Puffer Coat

You live in the Rocky Mountain West, so yes- you can have a barn jacket style coat that is insulated and it will absolutely work with your outfits. In fact, these are the pieces that make mountain living style what it is without looking like a costume. Lean in.

4. The Nano Puffy Jacket

This is the one you didn’t know you needed until you have one and can’t live without it. Use it as a lightweight layer on warmer/ sunnier days (especially while out for a cross country ski), and indulge in the double coat option on those negative temps days (or nights) without the bulk.

5. The Puffer Trench

The trench coat silhouette is making a comeback, but we Wyoming women know that a full length insulated coat is essential for the coldest days in winter. This one has some nice design details that add form to function.
